Modern Methods for Studying the Past: Technology for Research in History and Education

The AARE History and Education SIG presents a one-day workshop for all AARE members focused on exploring how emerging technologies can be leveraged in history and education research. These new technologies provide new ways of accessing and new ways of working with sources that allow for innovation in history and education research. The sessions will share current projects showcasing the diversity of ways technology is reshaping research, and will be of interest to scholars working in the disciplines of history, policy, education, languages and inclusion.

Speakers include:

  • Distinguished Professor Marnie Hughes-Warrington (AO) : Digital Researchers: AI as historians
  • Associate Professor Naomi Barnes: Digitally delving the Hansard (RAPID Reusable and Accreditable Public Interest Documents project)
  • Associate Professor Heather Sharp: Digital historical mapping (UNE Massacre Map project)
  • Dr Claire Golledge (with guest appearance by Professor Nicole Mockler): Deep Diving Teacher Discourse (corpus assisted discourse analysis)
