Abstract:
“Just as pilots, doctors, truck drivers, and athletes benefit from practicing their skills in low-risk environments, students can also learn effectively when given the opportunity to explore, make mistakes, and adjust without fear of failure.”
(Harvard Business Publishing, 2024)
While pre-built online simulations and paper-based role-play exercises allow students to make real-life decisions and see their outcomes, they might not allow personalised students’ experience and supporting students in achieving specific learning outcomes of our courses. To build on students’ individual skills and foster students’ opportunities to improvise and engage in learning, we use specific functions of Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Forms.
Our interactive learning activities engage students to experience real-life problems and realise outcomes of their managerial decisions and reassess their decisions if necessary. These activities encourage students to experience decision making, influence others in their group and being influenced by others. As result, students receive their personalised learning experience and figure out what they are expected to learn. I propose a 60 minutes face-to-face workshop on utilising specific functions of Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Forms in business disciplines.
The workshop might accommodate up to 24 participants who will co-create learning outcomes of learning activities, experience using innovative student engagement tools, plan for a debrief and develop their own agenda for a class. The learning outcomes of the proposed workshop include:
Understand how to engage students in active and in-depth learning using specific functions of Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Forms,
Address pedagogical and technical considerations of using these tools, and
Discuss future implications of using action-based learning and AI tools designing of assignments. Deliverables of the proposed workshop: 1) An outline of the major discussion “chunks” participants can take with them; 2) Questions for each chunk (opening question, follow ups, debrief); 3) Plan of actions (how to design learning activities using Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Forms).
