AARE is a national professional association of educational researchers in Australia. The day-to-day affairs of the Association are managed by an Executive Committee, most of whom are elected by the general membership of the Association. The composition of the Executive and terms of office for the various positions are specified in the Association's Constitution. Current Executive Committee membership is shown below.

Correspondence to do with individual portfolios and general correspondence to the Executive should be directed via the AARE Office.

AARE develops policies to assist with the day to day functions of the association. These policies are updated and added to as required.

The Australian Association for Research in Education was founded in 1970 as the voice of education researchers. Our members are educational researchers from Australian universities, local, state and federal governments, early childhood education contexts, schools, colleges and training organisations as well as private research agencies.

Australian Educational Researcher: an international peer reviewed journal, published five times a year and edited by AARE and distributed online through Springer. This is a Thomson (ISI) indexed journal that is freely available to AARE members.
