AARE is pleased to announce that it has again been invited to host a symposium as part of the program at the 2021 American Educational Research Association (AERA) Annual Meeting to be held virtually April 9 through April 12.  AARE proudly invites members to submit expressions of interest to present a symposium at this conference. 
Submissions should be submitted using the form on the AARE website by COB 30 November 2020.

Aim: The Early Childhood SIG has been established with the aim of providing an on-going space where interested AARE members can share their research in a supportive environment with the purpose of building research capacity. In providing this forum it is hoped that early childhood research will be promoted and encouraged with the emergence of collaborative research projects between SIG members. At the AARE conference in Sydney today, an Acknowledgement was delivered by the president on behalf of the members, apologising for any harm to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through past research practices and processes. WATCH VIDEO

Associations have done this in the past including the Australian Psychological Association in 2016. AARE encourages other Associations to consider what a process of acknowledging pasts and considering futures might provide.   

AARE thanked retiring Secretary Debby Cunningham by awarding her an Honorary Life Membership Award at the conference held in December. Debby had held the position of Sectretary of AARE for more thank 20 years. 

Thanks to all those members who took the time to complete the Mapping Research Opportunities in the Field of Education in Australia Survey. The Survey is now closed and the AARE Working party are in the process of analysing the data. The results of this work will be reported at the AARE Conference in Brisbane in December, 2019.
