AARE is pleased to announce that NZARE have invited AARE to send a representative symposium for the 2024 NZARE Annual Conference. The Conference will take place on the 25th to 27th of November, 2024 at Waikato University, Hamilton Campus, New Zealand.
This invitation comes as a part of a long-standing relationship between NZARE and AARE. Both Associations are committed to facilitating strong connections between members.
Being invited to represent AARE in an international forum is a high honour. Members proposing to be considered for this Award should consider the breadth and depth of the symposium being submitted to ensure it is representative of rigorous Australian education research.
AARE offers a total amount of up to $5,000 funding to assist the selected symposium team to attend. This funding will be reimbursed to participants on receipt of relevant invoices after the event. The successful symposium team should negotiate how these funds will be distributed amongst the team. However, AARE strongly supports use of the funds for ECR and HDR presenters wherever this is relevant. Please note that approval will be sought from the Chair of the successful symposium before any reimbursement is made to a team member by AARE.
The theme of the 2024 NZARE conference is Mā Muri, Mā Mua – which means “The Past Influences the Future”. Abstracts are invited that relate to the theme, to any of the focus areas of NZARE Special Interest Groups, and any other education research topic.
A Panel of experienced AARE members will assess all symposium proposals against the criteria. The Selection Panel's decision will be final.
The selected presenters will receive member rates for conference registration.
Please note: As the symposium presenters will be representing AARE, it is expected that at least one presenter from each proposed paper will attend the NZARE conference. If this is not possible, unless there are extenuating circumstances, AARE reserves the right to reverse the decision and remove support. It is the responsibility of the member proposing the symposium to ensure that all proposers of the papers in the symposium understand it is expected that at least one presenter on each paper attends the conference in person if the symposium is selected.
Proposals should be submitted HERE by 11.59 pm on Tuesday 6th August, 2024 and should be prepared according to the submission guidelines below.
Abstracts will be reviewed on the following criteria:
- Relevance of the presentation for representation of AARE;
- Extent to which researchers across career phases are included;
- Objectives or purpose;
- Contemporary significance and/or scholarly relevance;
- Perspective(s), theoretical framework, and/or methodology/methods;
- Results, conclusions, implications.
