Notice of the 54th Annual General Meeting 
 
Notice is hereby given that the fifty-fourth Annual General Meeting of members of the Australian Association for Research in Education (AARE) will be held as follows:   
 
Date: Wednesday 4th December 2024 
Time: 5.30pm AEDT 
Location: In person: Macquarie Theatre, 21 Wally’s Walk, Macquarie University, Macquarie Park NSW MAP 
 
The AGM is open to all financial members of the Association. 
 
All members who wish to attend are asked to register here for the AGM*.  
*Members are asked to have their membership number on hand to record on their registration if possible, as this facilitates the registration process. 

 
2024 Executive Election and Constitutional Amendment Electronic Vote 
In 2024, AARE members are being asked to vote on two matters as follows 
  1. EXECUTIVE ELECTION 
    This year there are two ballots in the Executive Election.   
  2. CONSTITUTIONAL AND BY-LAWS AMENDMENT BALLOT
    The AARE Executive is putting forward a proposal for Constitution change which includes six special resolutions for voting. These resolutions relate to: 
  • A collection of technical or minor nature to the Constitution; 
  • A change to the Objects and Purposes of the Association (rule 3); 
  • A change to rule 6.1d(iv) to define the frequency which the Executive Management Team reports to the Executive Committee; 
  • A change to define the length of time that a member can be co-opted to the Executive Committee (rule 6.6f); 
  • A change to rules 8.4 and 8.5 to clarify the proceeding of other business at the AGM; and 
  • A change to remove the By-laws. 
Member Voting information 
  • Member voting for the 2024 Executive Election and Constitutional Amendment Proposal will be conducted electronically until midnight on Wednesday 27 November 2024. 
  • For those members who are unable to vote electronically provision for them to submit a paper ballot will be made available at the AGM. 
  • Member voting relating to AGM business will be conducted in person at the AGM. 
  • Please note only active financial members can vote on any item and there is one vote per member per item.
